PBA News: Scottie Thompson For Matthew Wright?


The Scottie Thompson trade rumors refuse to go away. Now there are reports management is looking to send him to Phoenix for Matthew Wright.

The trade proposal will include not just Scottie but probably another player or draft pick. While Scottie is a valuable player, Matthew Wright is on another level. He can give Ginebra the shooter they really need. 

If Wright goes to Ginebra they will really become a super team. We have also heard rumors that Wright wants out of Phoenix. TNT is said to be interested in him as well and are offering Bobby Ray Parks Jr. 

Which will Phoenix choose, Thompson or Parks? It probably depends which other players or picks are included with Scottie. 

Also keep in mind that some in Ginebra management want to keep Scottie. We already know Tim Cone said he loves having Scottie on the team.

Ginebra Planning to Get Parks and Wright | PBA trade news now

Ginebra is already a favorite, but there are persistent rumors that the team wants to be even stronger by adding more players. Two names often linked to Ginebra are Bobby Ray Parks and Matthew Wright. Parks has made it clear he wants to play for Ginebra. But the situation he has found himself in makes trading him difficult. TNT owns his trade rights, and they wil not release him without a suitable replacement.  There is also the possibility that Parks might end up going overseas to play. He might follow the route of Thirdy Ravena and other players who decide to play elsewhere. The other name is Matthew Wright. There are reports Phoenix might be up for sale. Greg Slaughter to Return to Ginebra? | PBA Rumors

With the uncertainty about Japeth Aguilar and Christian Standhardinger, is there a possibility that Greg Slaughter will return to Ginebra? Aguilar and Standhardinger have huge contract offers from Japan. If one or both of them accept it, that will leave Ginebra with a big problem, literally. They need someone who will man the middle.  Could Slaughter be the answer? While Christian has struggled with the triangle offense of Cone, Greg is familiar with it. The problem has always been he has never played well with Japeth.  But if Japeth accepts the offer from Japan, that could make things easier for Greg. But will Greg want to come back knowing Cone wanted to trade him for Christian? And what about Magnolia who needs Greg too? And it could be possible that Ginebra will want a younger big man like Troy Rike or James Laput, maybe even someone from the draft.
