PBA Coach to be Replaced Soon? | PBA news update today
There are now rumors flying thick and fast that Pido Jarencio's days as Northport coach are numbered.
After Pido was forced to take a leave of absence due to the league health protocols, team manager Bonnie Tan took over. The result, Northport won 3 straight.
There was clamor from fans to retain Tan since the team was doing well. But management brought Pido back. The result, they lost two straight.
The first loss against TNT was not even close. But the second to Magnolia was and ignited controversy.
In the last play, Pido pulled out Slaughter who was supposed to guard the inbounds pass. He was replaced by the smaller Sidney Omwubere. Magnolia got the ball inbounds and Calvin Abueva hit the game winner at the buzzer.
Jarencio later admitted it was their fault, and it was a mistake. But some people are suspicious since Northport is close to SMC. The thinking is that Northport might have deliberately wanted to lose the game to give Ginebra a chance. But the kings lost later to the Alaska Aces to push them on the brink of elimination.
Whatever the case may be, observers say Jarencio may not last long with Northport any more. But only time will tell who will replace him.
