Is Yeng Guiao Leaving NLEX? | PBA News Update Today


NLEX bowed out of contention after being eliminated by sister team Meralco. While Guiao said he is proud of their run -especially with Kiefer Ravena gone - there is doubt if he will stay at NLEX, or the MVP group for that matter.

Many observers feel NLEX is being treated like a farm team by the MVP group, and for good reasons. They had given up Poy Erram and their first round pick to TNT. And there are rumors TNT is also interested in Calvin Oftana and will want him at some point.

As Yeng said after the Erram trade, he is just following orders. But he is used to having things his way, especially when he was with Rain or Shine. of course the financial compensation is greater at the MVP group, so will that be enough to convince him to stay?

It probably depends on what Ravena will do. He has an agreement with the MVP group he will return after one season in Japan. There is no doubting Kiefer's word, but will he return to NLEX or end up in TNT?

If TNT does not win the Philippine Cup, expect more additions to their lineup, and that also means NLEX will likely be involved. Will Guiao be up for this again?

TerraFirma Wants Prince Caperal of Ginebra | Ginebra Trade

TerraFirma reportedly wants Ginebra backup big man Prince Caperal. But it is unclear who they will give up in return, or if the Gin Kings will agree. Terrafirma has been battered by injuries, and having someone like Caperal can certainly help them. But is it a good idea for Ginebra to trade him? Caperal had a breakout last season and won most improved player. But his playing time has gone down with the arrival of Christian Standhardinger. Caperal would definitely get more playing time if he was at TerraFirma, a team that needs a big to pair up with James Laput. And if Caperal were to leave Ginebra, that could give more playing time for rookie Ken Sagulo, who has been languishing on the bench. Such a trade will benefit Caperal and Sagulo. Greg Slaughter to Return to Ginebra? | PBA Rumors

With the uncertainty about Japeth Aguilar and Christian Standhardinger, is there a possibility that Greg Slaughter will return to Ginebra? Aguilar and Standhardinger have huge contract offers from Japan. If one or both of them accept it, that will leave Ginebra with a big problem, literally. They need someone who will man the middle.  Could Slaughter be the answer? While Christian has struggled with the triangle offense of Cone, Greg is familiar with it. The problem has always been he has never played well with Japeth.  But if Japeth accepts the offer from Japan, that could make things easier for Greg. But will Greg want to come back knowing Cone wanted to trade him for Christian? And what about Magnolia who needs Greg too? And it could be possible that Ginebra will want a younger big man like Troy Rike or James Laput, maybe even someone from the draft.
